Tai Chi

I've started a Tai Chi class. One and a half hours on a Monday night. Add this to the rowing (up to 300 strokes per day now) and more walking (about 25 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening) and I'm certainly more active than I was.

Back from holiday

That's a nice surprise. I come back from two weeks holiday and find my waist size has dropped to 36 inches! The hips have shrunk a bit too.I didn't think for a moment about watching what I ate, but we really did do a lot of walking and, in the heat of Istanbul, drank gallons of water.

When you think about it, Turkish food is actually pretty healthy - lots of fruit, veg, pulses and grilled meats. Add to this a love of tea without milk, seafood and unleavened bread and everything, but everything as fresh as can be - definitely a recipe for healthy living.

A smaller waist - just in time for the wedding!

Well, the waist size has dropped to 37.5 inches - about 2.5 inches less than when I started this. The skirt and top I've bought for the wedding are a size 20-22, not 24, and that's a nice feeling.

I'll still be the 'fat lass' for my friend's big day but not quite as big as I was. Maybe I can find someone to hide most of me behind for the photos. Oh bugger it - stand up tall and just enjoy the day.

Rowing is getting better

I'm up to 12 minutes rowing in the morning now - that's 300 strokes in total at 25 strokes per minute. I know it's slow and my stroke rate isn't up to much but I'm not hating it so will keep at it

Progress

Weighed today at the GP's surgery. Am down to 95kg so I've lost about half a stone in five weeks. Good steady progress - not too hard so far.
